SALES DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST - SOUTH AFRICA
YOUR ROLE
Do you have a passion for driving business growth and building strong client relationships? Are you a results-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced commercial environment? CEVA Logistics is seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to support and expand our operations in South Africa. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing strategic trade lanes, and ensuring sustainable revenue growth aligned with country targets. You will also play a key role in maintaining and growing existing customer relationships while contributing to overall commercial success.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Business Development & Sales Execution:
- Prospect for new clients through networking, cold calling, and other lead generation methods.
- Ensure all sales leads are actioned promptly and effectively.
- Conduct a minimum of 10 business sales calls per week.
- Achieve agreed sales targets and contribute to overall country budget objectives.
- Develop a strong portfolio of blue-chip and key strategic accounts.
- Support the growth and development of national strategic accounts.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Identify opportunities to support customers and enhance service delivery.
- Focus on retaining existing business, re-securing lost accounts, and stabilizing at-risk clients.
- Manage customer debtors’ book and ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
Quoting, Tender & Reporting:
- Take ownership of RFIs and RFQs, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Prepare and present sales presentations, KPI reports, and monthly sales performance reviews.
- Complete profitability sheets and freight calculations where required.
- Assist with estimates, maintain the estimate register, and follow up on outcomes.
- Update CRM system (C-View) daily, ensuring opportunities and pipeline are current and sufficient.
Market Intelligence & Process Improvement:
- Monitor competitor activity and provide relevant market insights.
- Report operational and network service issues impacting customers.
- Provide input on improving operational and sales processes.
- Assist in the development of project-related business opportunities.
Operational Alignment & Compliance:
- Build strong working relationships with operational teams to ensure service excellence.
- Ensure all SOPs, Service Level Agreements, and rate increases are updated and maintained.
- Adhere to all KPIs and reporting requirements.
- Communicate with the Sales Business Analyst regarding account sign-offs and revenue tracking.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Freight Forwarding and Clearing Industry.
- Relevant qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field is advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong strategic planning, financial acumen, and project management capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
