YOUR ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Logistics Handling Operations Administrator - Customs brokerage to provide customs brokerage services and ensure maintenance of clearance lead times in conjunction with the Operations Supervisors- Customs Brokerage.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Co-ordinate and execute clearance of goods effeciently.
- Ensure accurate declarations are made for allocated files by capturing entries for taxes and duty payments in an effecient and timely manner.
- Prepare and process import/export documentation in compliance with customs rules and regulations.
- Follow up with customs offices to process documents and ensure timely entry releases.
- Address and resolve queries with the regulatory authorities - URA regarding declaration documents.
- Support the Bonds section to follow up customs bonds together with insurance certificates to ensure that goods are properly bonded with full documentation and retiring of the bonds upon ex warehousing or re-export.
- Update the cargo tracking system as and when new information is received.
- Participate and ensure smooth and continuous operations by coordinating activities of customs brokerage with other sections/departments.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- A university degree in Transport and Logistics Management OR any other related course.
- East African Customs and Freight Forwarding certificate is desirable.
- Minimum 2 years' working experience in a reputable organization in a similar field.
- Must be able to keep deadlines all the time with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Problem-solving and analytical skills to address operational challenges effectively. - Excellent presentation skills is important for collaborations with key clientele and other key stakeholders.
- High level of proficiency in using computer applications.
- High integrity, self-driven and able to set own work schedule with rigorous deadlines.
- Must have effective communication skills, both written and oral. Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
- Demonstrable aptitude for teamwork.
- High level of interpersonal skills.
