Compensation Starting Range: $56,322-$69,000 This is an non-exempt position and this position is eligible for overtime compensation + benefits + 401K
Schedule - Monday-Friday (Hybrid 4 days in office and 1 Day remote)

Position Summary

The Air Export Specialist III is responsible for coordinating and managing international air export shipments from origin to destination. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and customer expectations while optimizing operational efficiency and service delivery. The Specialist III serves as a subject matter expert, handling complex shipments, and driving process improvements with the Air Export Supervisor and Air Freight Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end air export shipments, including booking, documentation, transportation, and final delivery.
  • Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, trucking companies, and international agents to ensure timely movement of goods.
  • Handle complex shipments (e.g., hazardous materials, oversized cargo, time-critical shipments).
  • Monitor shipment milestones and proactively resolve delays or service issues.
  • Prepare and review all export documentation, including:
    • Air waybills (MAWB/HAWB)
    • Commercial invoices
    • Packing lists
    • Certificates of origin
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • U.S. export regulations (EAR, ITAR, etc.)
    • TSA and IATA regulations
    • International customs requirements
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in company systems.
  • Act as primary point of contact for key clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide shipment status updates, issue resolution, and proactive communication.
  • Manage service expectations and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support business retention and growth through high-quality service delivery.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges, including:
    • Customs clearance issues
    • Documentation discrepancies
    • Transportation delays
  • Escalate critical issues appropriately and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
  • Ensure adherence to company SOPs, KPIs, and compliance standards.
  • Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, and equivalent work experience accepted
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • 4–7+ years of experience in international air export or freight forwarding
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex and high-value shipments
  • Prior experience mentoring team members preferred
