About the role

Reporting to the Head of Internal Controls for Asia Pacific, this role will reinforce our existing Financial Control department. The role will work closely with the Asia Pacific team to drive continuous improvement across all countries with a complex process structure and in a context of significant acquisitions/ integrations.

What you will be doing

  • Develop monitoring controls across country network within the region
  • Evaluate/ quantify any control deficiencies and assist in implementing control enhancements or process modifications with maximum effectiveness and business efficiency (including Information Technology risks and controls).
  • Ensure specific accounting treatments, estimates & judgments, as well as complex accounting issues are aligned with Global Head Office (GHO) when required and properly accounted for
  • Set adequate procedures designed to prevent accounting errors and ensure quality of financial operations
  • Build a robust Balance Sheet review strategy and ensure it is effectively enforced in the Region
  • External / internal audit liaison
  • Ensure compliant group accounts with consistent quality - Compliance of Group Chart of Account, reporting Guidelines
  • Oversee quality of month end reporting, e.g. accuracy of business statistics reported by SSC
  • Enforce on-time closing for the month, and constantly explore opportunity for improvement in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Liaison with global finance team on transformation projects
  • Manages liaison with Central Financial Control
  • Inspire an internal control culture in the Countries.
  • Support ad hoc request from business for better understanding of numbers reported
  • Any other projects assigned by line manager

The successful candidate

Essential

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 5 years working experience in Public Accounting, MNC with exposure to multinational environments
  • Strong working experience in financial statement audit, or reporting
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with a strong ability to communicate
  • Able to work across functions, countries and products within the organization to deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision

Desirable

  • Industry experience in Logistics and Supply Chain is preferred but not essential
  • Experience managing Business Process Outsourcing is a plus.
