YOUR ROLE
The Solution Design Technologist based in Truganina VIC, applies engineering and analytical methods to design, test, and implement efficient warehouse and logistics solutions for CEVA’s customers across the Contract Logistics network.
The role combines applied engineering, commercial modelling, and process innovation to evaluate and adapt technologies and layouts, ensuring optimal service, cost, and operational outcomes.
It plays a key role in translating customer requirements into feasible, data-driven design concepts – supporting tenders, implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Specifically, you will:
- Analyse operational and technological requirements to define optimal warehousing and logistics solutions, balancing customer service, cost, and space utilisation.
- Design and adapt warehouse and automation concepts (e.g. storage media, material-handling systems, MHE, racking layouts, and process flows) to meet operational requirements and safety standards.
- Develop and validate design models using AutoCAD and analytical tools, ensuring feasibility, performance, and alignment with customer specifications and CEVA standards.
- Undertake detailed data analysis and commercial modelling to quantify labour, equipment, and facility costs, validating assumptions and supporting investment or tender recommendations.
- Perform solution testing and sensitivity analysis through scenario modelling, throughput simulations, or pilot trials to confirm performance, efficiency, and cost assumptions.
- Prepare design documentation, cost models, and technical presentations to support business development and customer proposals (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs).
- Collaborate with operations and cross-functional teams (e.g. IT, BPE, Finance) to validate practical implementation of designs and assess post-implementation performance.
- Identify and recommend process or technology improvements, drawing on applied engineering principles, data insights, and lessons from implemented projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and standardisation of CEVA’s Solution Design methodology, tools, and templates to enhance design accuracy and efficiency.
- Support capability development of Solution Design Analysts through guidance on design logic, costing, and modelling techniques.
- Ensure compliance with CEVA’s quality, safety, and sustainability standards in all design and implementation activities.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our ideal candidate has:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in solution design, process improvement, or engineering within logistics, manufacturing, or a related operational environment.
- Proven ability to analyse data and translate findings into practical design or process solutions.
- Applied understanding of warehouse and process engineering principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent) for layout design and schematics.
- Advanced Excel and data-modelling capability, including cost and scenario analysis.
- Familiarity with testing and validating engineering concepts through modelling or pilot trials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical and commercial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative, professional, and adaptable approach to changing project requirements.
In addition to providing proof of work rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undergo a medical assessment and national police check.
