Main areas of focus and accountability of the role – detail in order of importance the main areas of accountability of the role:

1) Customs Brokerage Management: Develop broker directives (rules of engagement) and scorecard brokers on import/export declaration compliance.
2) Operational Compliance: Review import and export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists) for accuracy, ensuring compliance with Malaysian Customs, MITI, and other government agency regulations.
3) Classification and Valuation: Support product classification (HS Codes) and validate technical descriptions to ensure correct duty payments.
4) Trade Management Systems: Utilize Trade Management Systems to maintain complete audit trails, records of export licenses, and compliance documentation.
5) Free Trade Agreements (FTA): Support the application of preferential tariff rates under relevant FTAs and ensure LMW (Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse) compliance.
6) Auditing and Reporting: Prepare for routine audits of compliance procedures, identify risks and report for trade activities.
7) MY-Export Permit application: Need to get MY-EUS from OM/Sales Channel/Customer, apply for pre-registration in e-permit, apply for manual permit to MCMC / MITI and maintain special permit (watch list countries etc).
8) Certification: Monitor Certificate of Origin from MITI and the Chamber of Commerce
9) Cost Saving Initiative-AFTA: To coordinate with the product team for new forecast demand by every 3 months, to identify a new product & apply for HS code for FTA tariff from customs classifier, to check on the shipment declaration status for AFTA benefits, to analyse & assess applicable FTA usage for import duty reduction
10) Preparation of Export Permit renewal: To apply for the STA permit in e-permit and submit ICP & EUS details to the Secretariat STA
