YOUR ROLE
Our Finished Vehicle Logistics team at CEVA Logistics is looking for a Driver Manager to oversee the daily delivery and collection of vehicles across the UK on behalf of vehicle manufacturers, retailers and online vehicle sales customers.
Based at Chipping Warden and reporting to the Head of Operations, this role brings together people leadership, operational planning and customer service. Working with our planners, despatch and administration teams, the focus is on ensuring drivers are supported, vehicle movements run efficiently and customers receive a reliable, professional service.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Taking ownership of the daily operation, you’ll coordinate the full vehicle movement cycle, from planning and driver allocation through to delivery and collection. This includes monitoring demand, ensuring sufficient driver capacity and working with the planning team to achieve schedules while controlling costs and reducing delays, cancellations and unsuccessful collections or deliveries.
Leading the planning, despatch and administration teams, you’ll set clear expectations and support performance through regular communication, coaching, one-to-ones and development reviews. Responsibilities also include recruitment, succession planning and maintaining clear training guides and operational procedures.
As the escalation point for operational and customer issues, you’ll work with colleagues to resolve problems quickly and identify recurring themes that require additional training or process improvements. Close collaboration with Driver Training and Development, Quality, Technical Services and Account Management will help maintain consistent standards across the operation.
Monitoring and reporting on key performance measures is central to the role, including driver utilisation, movement volumes, service quality and costs. Alongside reviewing driver expenses and administering incentive programmes, you’ll identify opportunities to improve processes and make better use of technology.
Safety and compliance underpin all activity. This includes maintaining driver health and safety standards, ensuring audits and follow-up actions are completed, and meeting relevant regulatory and ISO requirements. The role also provides operational cover for the Head of Operations during their absence.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We’re looking for an experienced driver, transport or operations manager with a successful background in logistics or distribution and proven experience leading teams and managing performance.
Strong planning and organisational skills are essential, alongside the ability to balance customer requirements, driver availability and operational costs. You’ll be comfortable using performance data to identify issues, make decisions and deliver practical improvements.
Clear communication and a supportive leadership style will help you build effective relationships with drivers, colleagues and customers. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure are equally important in this busy operation.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is required. A good understanding of UK geography would also be beneficial.
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?
With a genuine culture of reward and recognition, we want our employees to grow, develop and be part of our journey. We offer a benefits package that includes competitive annual leave entitlement with a fantastic holiday buy scheme, pension and life assurance along with access to an employee benefits platform that offers discounts on gym memberships and money off vouchers for a diverse range of retail, travel and hospitality brands. There’s no doubt that you will be compensated for your hard work and commitment so if you’d like to work for one of the top Logistics providers in the world then please do get in touch to find your next role.
