Equipment Coordinator (Empty Vessel)

Position Summary:

 

The Equipment Coordinator (Empty Equipment Vessel Coordinator) keeps an open communication with Home Office, Cargo Flow, terminals, and the stock management team regarding vessel loading and priority. The coordinator is expected to update and maintain vessel forecast, while having a high standard for attention to detail. On a daily basis, coordinators are expected to check all terminal stock and vessel plans, to ensure vessel plans are being followed and raise any concerns to the appropriate party.

 

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain inventory at needed levels at terminals by comparing inventory and booking levels to ensure equipment can meet export demands.
  • Aim to reduce the empty idle time throughout the coordinator’s region by communicating with terminals, port operations departments, and M&R to keep a fluid inventory and minimize terminal storage.
  • Coordinate with terminals, port operations, and home office to ensure vessels sail full
  • Ensure the forecast is consistently updated to reflect accurate plans
  • Build and maintain relationships with terminals

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

 

  • Knowledge of shipping industry
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Proficient computer skills to include all Microsoft applications. (excel, outlook, word)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of general experience required.
