Role Overview:


As a Key Account Management Specialist within the Africa Trade division, you play a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of Africa Trade activities by identifying strategic business opportunities, fostering and developing strong relationships with key customers.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Account Management 

  • Lead the development of the yearly target per account, in line with the budget and customer rating, and the cargo mix strategy with the support of Heads of Lines, Senior Line Manager, Commercial Line Managers, Head Office, Regional Offices and Sales Agency.
  • Accountable to retain existing customers and enhance customer portfolio by anticipating market trends, customer expectations and new requirements. 
  • Responsible to drive the development of the Lines Key Account team to be recognized as entry point for account performance monitoring, pricing, and customer related issue and/or new request. 
  • Coordination and collecting information regarding the Group’s best practises, market information, and customer care support.

Customer Performance Monitoring 

  • Attend QBRs coordinated by Sales / KAMs.
  • Provide regular reporting and communication to the Line Management such as customer performance follow up, pricing policy and allocation (CSA) adjustment, customer meeting requests.
  • Present weekly market insights report highlighting competitor / customer analysis and emerging trends for relevant stakeholders.

 

Tender Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive tender management process covering all stages from initial offer through nomination to final performance by 31 March 2027. 
  • Establishing clear workflows, coordination with cross-functional teams, and adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Preparing detailed tender documentation, managing stakeholder communications effectively, and ensuring smooth transitions between each phase.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business / marketing supply chain / Logistics / Maritime
  • 5 years of commercial, trade management, key account management, or business development experience within shipping industry
  • Sound knowledge of the Africa markets and CMA customers
  • Ability to influence, defend, negotiate and broker highly complex issues
  • Demonstrated skills in data management and decision-making using data
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to foster and grow both personal and business relationships across a diverse range of nationalities
  • Ability to manage key stake holders remotely
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills including a high level of numeracy
  • Negotiation skills, analytical skills and the ability to think strategically
  • Commercial customer-oriented approach
  • Lateral and innovative thinker
  • Self-driven / proactive in problem solving and seeking opportunities
