Air Freight Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management:
    Oversee the end-to-end air freight operations, including booking, customs clearance, documentation, and final delivery.
    Ensure that all air freight shipments are processed on time and in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
    Collaborate with other departments (e.g., warehouse, customer service) to ensure seamless operations.

  • Team Leadership:
    Manage and mentor a team of air freight coordinators and staff, ensuring effective performance, training, and development.
    Set clear goals and KPIs for the team and provide guidance on day-to-day operations.

  • Carrier Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with air carriers, freight forwarders, and other partners to negotiate competitive rates and ensure timely and reliable services.
    Monitor performance of carriers and implement corrective actions if needed.

  • Customer Relations:
    Act as the primary point of contact for air freight customers, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly.
    Provide solutions to any logistical challenges or delays, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Compliance & Documentation:
    Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including customs, international trade laws, and aviation regulations.
    Oversee the preparation of accurate shipping and customs documentation for all air freight shipments.

  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction, implementing best practices to optimize operational efficiency.
    Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes.

  • Budget & Cost Management:
    Manage the air freight budget, monitor spending, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality.
    Provide regular reports on operational performance and financial metrics.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in air freight operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of air freight industry practices, customs procedures, and international shipping regulations.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Profiency in English Language. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in air freight, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management in logistics operations.
