The General Manager is accountable for managing all aspects of a high-volume supply chain logistics operation to ensure consistent service quality, customer satisfaction, profitable and cost-efficient operations, and compliance with company policies, ISO standards, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and other regulatory guidelines. This role typically oversees single or multiple sites of greater complexity, including larger employee populations, broader operational scope, multi-client or technology-enabled environments, and expanded financial and customer accountability. The General Manager II provides leadership across operations, customer service, financial performance, talent development, and continuous improvement initiatives while modeling the company’s guiding principles and core values.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant operations leadership experience.

  • Experience driving revenue growth, retaining customers, and managing profitability across multiple sites.

  • Proven expertise in operations and business management, including budgeting, EBITDA, forecasting, and customer service.

  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and delegating responsibility effectively to direct reports.

  • Strong project management experience with solution-driven strategies to achieve operational goals.

  • Experience with startup management, new business, and implementation initiatives as a project lead.

  • Experience and proficiency with Tier 1 supply chain systems, including WMS, TMS, WCS, OMS, and ERP.

  • Experience with labor management tools and performance controls, with demonstrated success driving performance methodologies and practices.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, 3PL, Transportation, or a related field preferred.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of a high-volume supply chain logistics operation across one or more sites.

  • Coordinate customer service efforts across departments and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication.

  • Drive attainment of profit objectives and provide financial analysis and decision support.

  • Identify and develop additional business opportunities with existing customers.

  • Ensure safety, quality, and cost control programs are established and maintained.

  • Oversee operations management, staffing plans, scheduling, and labor levels to meet customer requirements and control costs.

  • Provide leadership in coaching, mentoring, personnel selection, and professional development.

  • Maintain corporate productivity and quality award programs to recognize outstanding performance.

  • Encourage use of performance management systems and continuous improvement processes.

  • Establish ongoing continuous improvement programs, including Kaizen, Lean, and quality initiatives.

  • Establish and monitor cost control programs, including annual budget development, monthly P&L review, payroll, and cost analysis.

  • Cultivate talent through the People Review process, facilitate succession planning, and drive employee growth and development.

  • Train managers and personnel strategically to achieve contract goals and customer expectations.

  • Negotiate and enforce collective bargaining agreements where applicable.

  • Motivate the workforce through performance programs, employee involvement groups, and recognition initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Strong business acumen in multi-site operations, P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet applications, and web-based software supporting supply chain and transportation operations, including Tier 1 supply chain systems.

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams and customers.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, and present formally.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with strong interpersonal abilities, diplomacy, and patience.

  • Exceptional planning, time management, collaboration, decision-making, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to champion change and implement new systems, processes, and approaches to meet strategic business objectives.

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged sitting and regular computer use are required in this role.
