YOUR ROLE
CEVA Logistics has secured a major new contract, marking an exciting phase of growth for the business.
As a result, our flagship e-commerce operation in Derby is seeking an experienced Inventory Operations Manager to lead and strengthen inventory accuracy, control, and integrity within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
This is a key role in protecting customer service, operational performance and cost efficiency, ensuring inventory loss is minimised, fulfilment is optimised, and the site consistently delivers operational excellence.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Reporting into the Senior General Manager, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of inventory control and ICQA (Inventory Control and Quality Assurance) performance within a fast-paced, high-volume e-commerce distribution centre.
You will take ownership of inventory accuracy across all storage, picking and transfer locations, ensuring system and physical stock alignment at all times. This includes delivering cycle counts, audits and control processes in line with both CEVA and customer standards, while proactively preventing inventory defects, shortages and mispicks through strong controls and verification processes. You will lead daily ICQA operations, including cycle counting, problem solve activity and defect investigation, ensuring all standard work is consistently followed and continuously improved. You will also support and prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with inventory, security, quality and loss prevention requirements.
A key part of your role will be leading root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies, write-offs and loss events, identifying systemic issues across inbound, storage, picking and outbound processes. You will implement corrective and preventative actions in collaboration with operational leaders and ensure clear tracking of trends and outcomes.
You will lead, coach and develop colleagues, building capability, driving engagement and embedding a strong “right first time” culture across the function. You will also support succession planning and ongoing team development to ensure long-term capability within the ICQA structure. You will track and report key KPIs including accuracy, defects, write-offs and compliance, providing clear insight and recommendations to senior leadership. You will play a key role in continuous improvement, driving enhancements in inventory control, accuracy and efficiency, while supporting operational change, system updates and layout changes from an inventory perspective.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our ideal candidate will have proven experience managing inventory control or ICQA functions within a high-volume logistics or e-commerce environment, along with a strong track record of investigating discrepancies and driving effective root-cause resolution. You will have experience leading teams within structured, KPI-driven operational settings and delivering consistent performance outcomes.
You will bring strong analytical and operational capability developed through inventory control, supported by a solid understanding of inventory accuracy, cycle counting and defect management processes. You will be confident working with inventory, WMS and performance data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities, with excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
You will be a confident communicator with the ability to clearly explain complex findings, alongside strong stakeholder management skills across both operational and support teams. You will also be comfortable challenging constructively and influencing others to drive resolution and continuous improvement.
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?
With a genuine culture of reward and recognition, we want our employees to grow, develop and be part of our journey. We offer a benefits package that includes competitive annual leave entitlement with a fantastic holiday buy scheme, pension and life assurance along with access to an employee benefits platform that offers money off vouchers for a diverse range of retail, travel and hospitality brands.
