YOUR ROLE

 

CEVA Logistics has been awarded a major new contract with a high-profile client, marking an exciting phase of growth for the business expanding on our ecommerce offering. This is a new build implementation offering exciting opportunities across contract logistics. As a result, we are recruiting a Planning Coordinator to support the delivery of accurate labour, capacity and deployment plans within our new Derby operation.

 

This role will see you working closely with the onsite Planning Manager and operational teams, focusing on turning labour plans into effective operational execution, ensuring labour is deployed correctly, variances are identified early, and operational teams have the data and insight they need to make timely decisions. 

 

This is a key role in maintaining day‑to‑day operational stability in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment, and offers a strong foundation for progression into planning or analyst roles. 

 

We currently have two shifts available; however, flexibility will be required: 

  • Sunday to Thursday, 8:30am-5:30pm
  • Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30am-5:30pm 

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

Reporting into the on-site Planning Manager, you will take key responsibilities for the:

 

  • Support daily labour deployment in line with approved labour plans and shift structures
  • Work closely with operations and shift managers to ensure labour is deployed accurately across functions
  • Identify gaps, surpluses and misalignment between plan and actual deployment
  • Support redeployment decisions in response to volume changes or operational priorities
  • Maintain planning tools, labour plans, headcount models and deployment trackers
  • Update planning data with actual hours, attendance and performance information
  • Produce daily and weekly labour and deployment reports
  • Track plan vs actual performance and clearly highlight variances
  • Support root‑cause analysis of labour or deployment inefficiencies
  • Act as the day‑to‑day planning interface with operational teams on shift
  • Attend operational briefings and performance discussions as required
  • Proactively identify risks relating to labour coverage, skill gaps or deployment accuracy
  • Support continuous improvement of planning processes, reporting and execution
  • Support the Planning Manager with any additional tasks as and when required

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

 

To be successful in your application you will have proven background in planning, operational support or workforce coordination, experienced in working closely with operational teams ideally within a fast-paced warehousing or operational environment. You will have strong numerical and data handling skills with excellent attention to detail, confident in using Excel and basic planning or reporting tools. 

 

It goes without saying that you will be a natural communicator confident in engaging with operational teams and challenging decisions constructively. You will be a problem solver, someone who is well organised and able to manage multiple priorities across a live operational environment. 

 

Desirable skills:

  • Proven experience of working in an ecommerce environment
  • Experience of working in a high-volume warehouse or distribution environment
  • Exposure to labour planning, shift deployment or workforce management
  • Familiar with labour management systems, WMS, T&A or operational reporting dashboards
  • Experience supporting peak periods, ramp ups or fluctuating volumes
  • Interest in developing a career in planning, analytics or operational management
