LOGISTICS HANDLING OPERATIONS ADMINISTRATOR - SOUTH AFRICA
Do you have a keen eye for detail and an interest in customs compliance and international trade documentation? Are you looking to build a career in a fast-paced logistics environment where accuracy and process discipline matter? CEVA Logistics is seeking a Customs Entry Clerk in Durban to support our customs brokerage operations. This role is ideal for an entry-level logistics professional who is eager to learn customs processes, ensure accurate documentation handling, and support the seamless flow of import and export declarations in line with SARS requirements.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Documentation Preparation & Data Entry:

- Check customs documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, air waybills / bills of lading) to support import and export declarations
- Enter shipment and commodity data into CEVA CargoWise systems with high accuracy, supporting senior staff in compiling SAD/CCD declarations
Support with Customs Declarations:

- Assist senior customs agents with classification, valuation, and origin data preparation required for EDI submissions
- Verify basic regulatory requirements (permits, certificates, HS codes) before declarations are submitted
Voucher of Correction (VoC) Assistance:

- Prepare and submit Vouchers of Correction (SAD-504) when amendments are required
- Support understanding and compliance with SARS requirements for electronic VoC submissions, ensuring complete and accurate documentation packs
Refunds & Drawbacks (Entry-Level Support):

- Assist with gathering documentation for DA66 refund/drawback claims under the Automated Refunds and Drawbacks (ARD) system on SARS eFiling
- Support senior clerks and supervisors in preparing submission packs for refunds and drawback processes
Quality Checks & Compliance Support:

- Conduct basic pre-checks for data accuracy (tariffs, weights, quantities) to reduce documentation errors and support brokerage KPIs
- Maintain organized, audit-ready digital file records in accordance with CEVA compliance and control tower standards
Customer & Internal Communication:

- Provide timely updates to internal teams regarding missing documents, required information, and declaration status
- Escalate irregularities, risks, or missing documentation to senior team members and customs controllers
Systems & Administrative Support:

- Upload, index, and maintain documents in CEVA systems to ensure traceability, reporting accuracy, and audit readiness
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
-
- 0–2 years’ experience in customs, logistics, or freight forwarding (internships or entry-level experience ideal)
- Qualification or coursework in logistics, freight forwarding, or customs fundamentals is advantageous
- CargoWise experience beneficial
Skills:
- Basic understanding of import/export documentation and customs processes
- Strong attention to detail and high level of administrative accuracy
- Computer literacy (MS Office, PDF handling, data entry systems)
- Strong willingness to learn and develop customs brokerage knowledge
Characteristics:
