YOUR ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Logistics Handling Operations Operator – Driver & Forklift Operator based in Rwanda to handle safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of people and cargo, as well as the operation of lifting equipment to support handling, loading, offloading, yard arrangement, and cargo movement within the ICD and operational sites.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO
Transportation Duties:
• Safely transport staff, clients, and cargo within Rwanda and other designated regions/locations.
• Plan efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
• Ensure safety and security of cargo and passengers.
• Assist with loading/unloading and handling cargo.
Equipment Operations:
• Operate lifting equipment according to CEVA SOPs and safety guidelines.
• Load and offload containers following approved loading/offloading instructions.
• Identify, position, and relocate containers for dispatch, verification, and clearance.
• Support warehouse/ICD teams in handling client cargo and container movements.
Yard Management:
• Maintain orderly arrangement of the yard.
• Allocate appropriate space for incoming and offloaded containers.
• Create additional yard space when required.
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance:
• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform basic maintenance on lifting equipment.
• Report mechanical faults immediately and follow up for timely resolution.
• Ensure servicing schedules are adhered to.
Compliance, Documentation & Safety:
• Follow all traffic laws and CEVA safety policies.
• Maintain valid vehicle and equipment operation documents/licences.
• Complete logs, checklists, incident reports, and operational records accurately.
• Uphold CEVA’s Code of Conduct and HSE standards (zero-accident/damage commitment).
Customer Service & Professionalism:
• Provide excellent service to passengers, clients, and colleagues.
• Communicate professionally and courteously.
• Represent CEVA professionally at all time.
Adhoc Duties:
• Performs any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the line Manager and dotted supervisors
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
• Valid Advanced Certificate of Education/Secondary School Education or equivalent.
• Valid Rwanda driving license class (Category B, C,D,F).
• Certified Forklift Operator License.
• Must have a clean criminal record.
• Must be medically fit and able to operate heavy lifting equipment safely.
• A certificate in occupational safety for equipment operations is desirable.
• Additional technical training is an added advantage.
• Training certifications in use and operation of lifting equipment.
• A minimum of two (2) years of working experience in driving, lifting equipment operations preferably in the logistics industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. (Will be required to undergo mandatory assessment of driving and literacy test).
• Ability to read, write and understand national languages.
• Load handling and maneuvering at height.
• Good attention to detail with strong quality awareness.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills to address operational challenges effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and strong team player.
• Commitment to CEVA Logistics’ values of integrity, teamwork, and customer focus.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance checks.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, and industrial equipment.
• Shift-based work schedule (day/night shifts depending on business needs).
