YOUR ROLE
The Customs Declarant is responsible for sending or transiting goods on behalf of a company or an individual by regularizing customs clearance documents. They handle both the export and import of goods. Acting as a true bridge between the client and the customs authorities, the customs declarant ensures that everything is compliant at the time the goods cross the border.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Ensure the collection and verification of all documentation required for customs procedures;
- Prepare customs clearance files and verify their compliance with international transit regulations;
- Represent the client and declare goods to the public customs authority;
- Verify exported or imported goods;
- Observe and carry out controls during customs procedures;
- Provide basic analyses, interpretations, and advice to clients;
- Comply with commitments made (deadlines and due dates);
- Monitor operations (efficient management of ledgers, etc.);
- Create tracking reports for suspensive regimes in coordination with the dedicated unit;
- Control the settlement and extension of suspensive regimes;
- Verify exemption declarations;
- Follow up with clients;
- Obtain customs release authorizations (“main levée”);
- Produce weekly activity reports for the line manager;
- Immediately inform the line manager of any risk situation;
- Ensure continuous training and skills development aligned with the working environment;
- Strictly comply with processes and hierarchical lines.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
QUALIFICATIONS:
BAC+2 in Transport and Logistics.
EXPERIENCE:
2 and 3 years in Transit and Logistics
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Excellent knowledge of customs clearance procedures as well as customs legislation and techniques;
- Thorough understanding of customs law, tax procedures, and international business law;
- Strong organizational and management skills;
- High level of rigor in preparing customs documentation;
- Excellent command of office and IT tools;
- Ability to handle deadline-related stress;
- English
