This role operates on a fixed shift pattern of 2:30pm–11:00pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required to support operational demands.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
You will report into the VAS (Value Added Services) Manager, working as a Production Line Lead to jointly lead the day‑to‑day operation of the automated packing line alongside a peer in the same role. During shift, you will provide functional leadership on the line, coordinating activity and taking operational decisions to support safe, efficient, and effective production.
Where the VAS Manager is not available, the role will seek guidance from and escalate issues to the Warehouse Supervisor, ensuring clear leadership coverage and appropriate decision‑making during operational hours.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate automated packing line activity to meet production plans and operational requirements.
- Maximise machine availability through effective line running, first‑line intervention, and timely escalation of issues.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards, setting the standard for safe and disciplined working practices.
- Verify the correct use of products, packaging, and labelling, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout production runs.
- Accurately complete and maintain production data, reports, and system inputs.
- Carry out and coordinate line changeovers, start‑ups, shut‑downs, and clean‑down activities in line with site procedures.
- Support investigation of recurring operational issues and contribute to improvements that enhance line flow, quality, and efficiency.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the VAS and production area.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience carrying out first‑line operational interventions on automated equipment, within defined procedures.
- The ability to lead line changeovers, clean‑downs, and start‑up activities confidently and safely.
- A strong understanding of health, safety, and quality requirements within a production environment.
- High levels of attention to detail to ensure accuracy of product, packaging, and labelling.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to guide colleagues positively during operational activity.
- A proactive, curious mindset with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Experience working within a highly automated production or warehousing environment (desirable)
- Exposure to multi‑skilled operative or technical environments, without the requirement for engineering ownership (desirable)
